"Children of Mulattos", a subset of the Betsimisaraka, who are descendeants of European pirates. Red or brown hair, blue or grey eyes, are still common. About 1715, a Zana-Mulata named Ratsimilaho (later renamed Ramaromanompo) unified various clans along the Pirate Coast into the Betsimisaraka.
